Each December, state convention leaders descend on Nashville for our annual Summit with LifeWay Christian Resources. They are a great partner and we truly appreciate the quality resources they publish. During this meeting, we spend several hours with our affinity group–which in my case is with women’s leaders from other states. I love hanging out with these peers who share the joys of reaching women with the Gospel.

During my December 2011 meeting, we had the privilege of having author and speaker Lisa Harper visit our affinity group. She talked about the Bible study she had just finished writing based on the book of Malachi. While we were in our meetings, she was busy preparing the DVD companion for the study.

Meeting speakers and hearing from them is always a special treat. Meeting Lisa was no different. She had a passion for God’s word and shared her own personal story of God’s love for others. What made Lisa different  wasn’t that meeting. It was what happened that evening.

Most of us gathered for dinner in a local Nashville restaurant. It’s generally a combination of Mexican food and cupcakes. When we gathered at the restaurant, we were greeted by the companionship of Lisa! She laughed, ate Mexican food with us and shared her life with us. I have never had a speaker engage with a group of leaders in a more personal way. It was following that meal that I quickly offered an invitation for Lisa to speak at this year’s BGCO Women’s Retreat.

We are less than three weeks away from our event and this is our final week of registration. Sometimes when you consider events, I know you really want to know what our speakers are like. I can honestly say you are going to be blessed by Lisa’s words. Not only will she point you to scripture, but she will engage with you in a very authentic way.

If you haven’t signed up, this week is the time to do it! Go to our website here and find the online registration. If you’ve already signed up, share this with someone you know who needs to come. Together, we’ll experience “A Love That Never Lets Go.”
