I’ve blogged several times about the upcoming Oklahoma Ladies’ Retreat, but I haven’t had the opportunity to brag about our worship leader for the weekend–Jami Smith.

I can’t quite remember the first time I heard Jami, but I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time. She was one of the first women I’ve seen who actually LED worship. Most of the time, it’s not hard to find a performer. But it’s rare to find a woman who actually leads a congregation to the throne of God. That’s exactly what Jami does.

This is not the first retreat where Jami has led worship for the women of Oklahoma. I’d like to forget the first time. The new tabernacle had not been built and we had our general sessions outside in the amphitheatre. It was April, and unlike most spring weather, the weekend turned bitterly cold and wet. In the midst of 2,000 women huddled in blankets, Jami and her band braved the elements and sang from their hearts. Let’s just say I owe her big time.

As we began to pray about the 2011 retreat, I knew we were going to focus on the importance of Scripture. Jami had just released a new CD called Verse–a CD comprised only of songs taken from the pages of God’s Holy Word. It just made sense to invite her back. And we’re so glad she said “yes”!

Every woman who attends this year’s retreat will receive a copy of the CD and be treated not only to Jami leading worship, but a concert featuring the songs from Verse. In addition, Jami is doing something really cool utilizing her custom mobile page on her website. Women will be able to download a free song and connect with her via text during the retreat. There’s even going to be prizes!

There’s one more day to sign up online so please don’t procrastinate any longer. We are ready to Scout the Divine with you next week.
