Probaby the most known verse in the Bible is John 3:16. If you didn’t memorize it as a child, you are probably familiar with its content: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

What a rich verse! So much theology packed into these words spoken by Jesus to a seeking Nicodemus.

God–the one true God. Loves the world–every person that has been created. He gave His son–unselfishly God allowed His son to leave the throne room of heaven to enter into our existence. Whoever believes in Him–this means anyone. You. Me. The child in Iraq, the prostitute on the streets or the woman in the corner office. Should not perish, but have eternal life–By turning to Christ and repenting of our sins we are able to receive the gift of eternal life made possible through the death and resurrection of Christ.

One verse. Great impact. But there’s still one question each of us must answer. Is John 3:16 your John 3:16? Is it personal to you? In 2010, you’re going to hear our office proclaim MY316 many times and in many ways. Maybe you’ve accepted the John 3:16 promise. But who in your circle of influence needs to make John 3:16 their own? Could you use this one verse to share the gift of eternity with someone who needs it?

How is John 3:16 personal to you? How did you accept Christ?
